BarTalk | December 2018

  • December 01, 2018

Inside this issue:

Much like law, education is a fundamental institution to the functioning of our society: it is meant to examine the nuances of the world and provide the best normative advice it can muster. Education and academia in particular, however, transcend culture, society and government. But what is the legal framework around education? What does our legal institution do to protect our freedom of inquiry, and how can it be used to inhibit it? This issue of BarTalk examines (among others) liability in classrooms, freedom of expression on campus, student discipline and appeals, Trinity Western University’s bid to open a law school, and the power of education (and the role of professors) in shaping the way students see the world.
