Appointment of Judge to the Provincial Court of British Columbia

  • July 09, 2019

It is my great pleasure and privilege to announce that the Lieutenant Governor in Council has signed an Order in Council appointing David Patterson to the Court as a full time judge.

Judge Patterson – will be sworn in on August 12, 2019. He will be assigned to the Northern Region with Chambers in Prince Rupert.

Judge Patterson received a Juris Doctor from UBC in May 1992, articling with Hope Heinrich in Prince George from May 1992 to April 1993 before being called to the bar in May 1993. The focus of his career has been as a prosecutor with some experience in criminal defence, family law, real estate transactions and civil litigation. He became a Partner at MTC law in 2001. In 2010 he gave up his criminal defence practice to concentrate his time on Federal prosecutions. Prior to appointment, Mr. Patterson was the Public Prosecution Service of Canada (PPSC) Legal Agent in the Fraser region.

On behalf of the Court I wish to congratulate our newest colleague on his appointment and welcome him to the Provincial Court of British Columbia.
