The BGuiled Debate is a spin-off from the Guile Debate, a beloved legal comedy event at the UBC law school for nearly two decades. Debaters argue for or against an assigned legal maxim, emphasizing the infusion of wit, joy, and hilarity into the otherwise often dry subject of law. The BGuiled Debate is open to students as well as members of the bar. After excelling in the hilarious Try-Outs event on November 1, our four lawyer finalists will now show off in a comedic battle of wits on January 17, 2018 at the Law Courts Inn in Vancouver on the maxim: “Be it resolved that the law abhors delay.”
All proceeds of the BGuiled Debate will be donated to Aboriginal Home Instruction for Parents of Preschool Youngsters (HIPPY) in Canada. So far, we’ve raised almost $2,000.00 for this excellent program! To learn more, please visit: mothersmattercentre.ca/aboriginal-hippy/
