Scott Morishita
Scott Morishita is the president of the Canadian Bar Association, BC Branch for the 2023-24 term. Scott is associate counsel at Rice Harbut Elliott LLP, a boutique Vancouver litigation firm that represents plaintiffs in personal injury and class action lawsuits.
Scott has worked for over fifteen years as a trial lawyer and represented a diverse range of clients, including individuals, insurance companies and local governments. He’s made numerous court appearances at all levels of court in the province.
Scott has served as the Vancouver County Representative to the CBABC Provincial Council from 2018 to 2021. He was elected to the Board of Directors in 2020 and has been a driving force on many of our committees, including Policy & Advocacy, Access to Justice, Member Services & Engagement, and Finance & Audit.
A strong advocate for lawyers’ mental health and well-being, Scott is a long-time volunteer within the profession and actively mentors many young lawyers and students. He has also donated his time to many legal organizations, including the Continuing Legal Education Society of BC, Pro Bono Law Students Canada and the Federation of Asian Canadian Lawyers.
Scott attended the University of British Columbia for his undergraduate studies, where he completed a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science in 2000 and achieved his LLB from the University of Victoria in 2005. He was called to the BC Bar in 2007. He is a proud member of the 2SLGBTQIA+ community.
