Aesha has been practising in Victoria, BC, since 2005, and has focused her practice in family law for the past 13+ years. She is a trained family law mediator and has conducted many mediations. Aesha represents family law clients at all levels of court in BC. She is also a trained collaborative family lawyer and has represented clients in collaborative family law processes, mediations, and med/web processes. Aesha is currently working for Legal Aid BC and working in child protection.
She looks forward to assisting other lawyers in whatever way she can.

Maryam Sodagar is the founder and principal at Sodagar Nielsen Law Group. She was called to the BC bar in 2006 and the Ontario bar in 2007. Since she began her career, she has successfully represented clients in a broad range of complex family and immigration law matters. She has appeared before the BC provincial court, Supreme Court, Court of Appeal, and the Federal Court. Maryam’s practice focuses on the complex aspects of family law over multiple jurisdictions. In 2018, she also became licensed as a mediator to better serve her clients. Her immigration practice focuses on economic and entrepreneur immigration including provincial nominees, inter company transferees and skilled immigration. Maryam has a clear and deep understanding of the importance of competent and effective legal counsel and provides the best of that to each and every client.

barbara describes herself as a fat old white queer lawyer with disabilities, raised working class and Christian on the prairies. She says all of those locations have informed her legal work. She has spent almost 50 years advocating for the queer and trans communities of BC, including work about assisted human reproduction for members of those communities. She is excited to work with younger lawyers using this program because there are very few resources about how to work for clients in marginalized communities encountering a legal system not made in a way that respects who they are. barbara is the winner of the CBA/BC's highest award, the Georges A Goyer Distinguished Service award, and of the CBA national's highest award, the Louis St Laurent Distinguished Service award. She very much enjoys mentoring younger lawyers.

Diane has practiced family law for over 30 years, and focuses on practical problem-solving and Alternate Dispute Resolution, preferring to resort to mediation rather than the courts, when the involvement of a third party is required to achieve a resolution. She has recently become involved with the Health & Justice Alliance (Transforming the Family Justice System) and is concerned with ensuring that children are not traumatized or harmed by the legal process surrounding the separation of their parents.
