The Public Commission on Legal Aid was privately established by law-related groups in 2010 to engage the public of British Columbia in order to determine their priorities regarding legal aid in the province of British Columbia.

In the fall of 2010 the Public Commission on Legal Aid issued an open call for written submissions and travelled throughout the province to hear oral submissions from interested parties including the public, community organization representatives and justice system stakeholders.

The final report of the Public Commission on Legal Aid was released on March 8, 2011.
