Synopsis: 'Reviewing Our Role in Conflict,' inspired by key ideas in Bernie Mayer's book, Beyond Neutrality. The talk considered what is meant by the idea of "conflict engagement" and how we might expand our choices about who we are in conflict situations.
Comments and Observations of the Chair
This was our first year without mediator Donna Soooules serving as our Program Coordinator. After many years of service, Donna took a well-deserved break. Unfortunately, Donna's replacement was unable to attend our meetings in 2010/2011, so we operated without this key role being performed. Subsequently, at our final meeting of the year no one was able to commit to assuming the role of Program Coordinator for 2011/2012.
As Chair, I will continue to perform this function in 2011/2012, and to that end I have already confirmed two of our guest speakers for next year. We start early with Professor John Wade on September 15th. My goal for our Section is to have five presentations in 2011/2012.
