Synopsis: Law students and articling students interested in practicing Aboriginal Law were invited to attend an informal meet and greet with lawyers practicing Aboriginal Law in Victoria to learn about looking for work, practicing in this area of law and the benefits of joining Canadian Bar Association.

Guest Speaker: Update from the Law Society of BC Truth and Reconciliation Advisory Committee
Meeting Title/Topic: Dean Lawton, Q.C., member of the Truth and Reconciliation Advisory Committee of the Law Society of BC, Bencher of the Law Society of BC, Partner, Cawfra Lawton LLP
Synopsis: The Law Society of British Columbia had struck an advisory committee to address justice and legal issues affecting Indigenous people in the province, including those highlighted in the Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada’s report and Calls to Action. Dean Lawton, Q.C. a member of the Law Society's Truth and Reconciliation Advisory Committee, provided an update on the Committee's work. This session also provided an opportunity for members of the bar to provide suggestions for the work of the Committee, and discuss what lawyers and the Law Society can do to further the Truth and Reconciliation Calls to Action.
