Meeting Title/Topic: Technology and Crime Scene Evaluation
Synopsis: Cpl. Chamberlain Zayonc of the Nanaimo Forensic Indentification Section introduced the LEICA 3D scanner. LEICA is a new tool used by the RCMP to document crime scenes. Also joining us was Nanaimo Crown Counsel Frank Dubenski to speak about issues around the use of this technology at trial.

Meeting Title/Topic: Local Resources for Female Offenders
Synopsis: Members joined us to learn about the local resources available for female offenders. Probation officers Jenna Beck and Brittany MacPherson provided informaton about Community Corrections new Women's Program: Thinking Leads to Change. Additionally, Courtney Dunae and Kandi McDonald, both from the Haven Soceity, discussed their women's programming as well as the role of Victim Services in K-court.

Meeting Title/Topic: Guthrie Therapeutic Community Tour
Synopsis: On the grounds of the Nanaimo Correctional Centre, a unique program is running to assist individuals struggling with drug addiction and criminal offending. B.C. Corrections, in partnership with the Nanaimo Region John Howard Society, developed and implemented the Guthrie Therapeutic Community (GTC) in 2007. In 2012, the Guthrie program received a Premier's award for Innovation and Excellence. This tour was an opportunity to meet with the residents of GTC and those who deliver the program.
