Synopsis: On May 25, 2018, the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) came into force. This privacy legislation imposed new obligations on businesses that handle personal information of EU residents, even if located outside the EU. Bradley Weldon hosted a discussion of the GDPR.

Comments and Observations of the Chair

The Special Committee of the Freedom of Information and Privacy Law Section completed submissions to the Ministry of Citizens' Services regarding updates to FOIPPA on April 9, 2018.

The Section is working on planning of a conference in conjunction with B.C. Privacy Professionals, to be held April 11, 2019.
