One of the most challenging aspects of workplace investigations can be dealing with individuals with high conflict personalities. Cherolyn Knapp B.Comm, LL.B, Q.Med and Jason Walker, Psy.D., Ph.D., Program Director and Associate Professor, Adler University, discussed practical insights and strategies for navigating the interpersonal, legal and ethical implications of dealing with high conflict personalities in workplace investigations. Topics included, recognizing high conflict behaviour and its potential impact on the investigation processes; employing effective communication techniques to de-escalate difficult dynamics and move investigations forward; settomg clear boundaries to protect yourself and the integrity of the investigation; and engaging in self-care to manage stress and preserve wellbeing.
