B.C. appoints new Supreme Court master

The Government of British Columbia has appointed a new Supreme Court of B.C. master to ensure the judiciary has the resources needed to continue providing access to justice. The appointment of Jennifer Keim, who will take her seat in Kamloops, is effective Aug. 1, 2019.

Funding Notice: Legal Research Fund

The Law Foundation of British Columbia has established a fund of $120,000 per year to support legal research in British Columbia. The purpose of the fund is to support legal research projects that “advance the knowledge of law, social policy, and the administration of justice”.

Legal organizations in B.C. pledge to act on access to justice

Over 50 justice sector organizations in B.C. have pledged to work toward improving access to justice in the civil justice and family law field, and the group spearheading the move says the plan is not about prescribing solutions but ensuring collaboration among different players in the system.
