CBABC develops and advocates for law and policy reform to achieve meaningful change for Indigenous peoples. These advocacy efforts take place through recommendations to government, the professional regulator, and the courts.
Agenda for Justice is a comprehensive document CBABC created to serve as a roadmap for action to improve BC’s justice system and modernize provincial legislation. It contains more than 40 recommendations in 22 key areas, including those affecting Indigenous people.
On Matters of Indigenous Justice was a CBABC submission sent to the BC government in 2021. It offers an overview of the issues impacting Indigenous justice in BC, with 27 recommendations for improvement.
This area of advocacy is primarily developed by the Truth and Reconciliation Committee, which includes Indigenous and non-Indigenous CBABC members.
