One of the cornerstone events held in British Columbia during Law Week is the annual Barry Sullivan Law Cup public speaking contest. The competition is sponsored by the Canadian Bar Association British Columbia Branch and is open to students enrolled in grades 11-12 in British Columbia. The Law Cup is named in memory of Barry Sullivan in recognition of his contributions to both the legal and educational professions. The Law Cup is presented to the provincial winner of the competition.
The competition was held from 3:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Monday, April 15, 2013 in the Heritage Courtroom at the Vancouver Art Gallery, 750 Hornby Street in Vancouver, British Columbia. Students will present five minute speeches on the topic: "How important is the role of public opinion in justice".
We wish to thank the speakers and judges for their participation in this annual event and Mr. Sullivan’s widow Ms. Dawn Waddell, Leanne Sullivan and Shannon Sullivan for their support of the Barry Sullivan Law Cup Public Speaking Contest.
