The Canadian Bar Association, BC Branch today announced Lee Nevens (they/them) as president for the 2024-25 term. A long-time advocate for the 2SLGBTQIA+ community, Nevens is the first transgender lawyer elected as CBABC President and first non-binary Branch President in all of the Canadian Bar Association.

B.C. appoints judicial justice to Provincial Court

The Government of British Columbia has appointed a new judicial justice to the Provincial Court to ensure timely and effective access to justice. The new judicial justice appointed to the Provincial Court, effective July 16, 2024, is John Douglas Jevning, KC.

Treaty First Nation Violation Ticket Disputes in Provincial Court

The B.C. government has implemented treaty commitments from the Tsawwassen First Nation Final Agreement, Maa-nulth First Nations Final Agreement and Tla’amin Nation Final Agreement to recognize Treaty First Nation laws in the B.C. Provincial Court.
