On October 19, 2010, the Canadian Bar Association BC Branch (CBABC) held the CBABC/UVic Faculty of Law Mentoring Reception in Victoria, British Columbia. CBABC President Stephen McPhee presented the $4,000 CBA Entrance Scholarship to Burke Vindevoghel. John Waddell, QC, member of the CBAF Board of Directors, presented the $500 CBA Financial Services Corporation Law School Achievement Award to Emily Dixon.
The scholarship is awarded to a student entering the UVic Faculty of Law who has best shown a strong commitment to the ideals served by the Canadian Bar Association, which include the promotion of Justice and/or law reform, through his or her exemplary public service or community service, as demonstrated by extra-curricular activities at educational institutions, volunteer work with community or charitable organisations, or any kind of public service activities.
