This year's Senior Women Lawyers Dinner was held at the Brix Restaurant with special guest Nancy McKinstry, CM, LLD (Hon.).

Dr. McKinstry has been a spokesperson for ovarian cancer awareness and the WLF was delighted to have her as the guest in view of the WLF initiatives this year in support of Ovarian Cancer Canada.

In her current board work, Dr. McKinstry’s many years of experience in the private, public and non-profit sectors afford her a breadth of knowledge in retail, consumer goods, financial and crown corporations.

She has a proven track record of strategic decision-making and leadership. Her ability in gathering together people and resources has had measurable success with each organization that she has worked with.

Previously, she has chaired the boards of the Insurance Corporation of British Columbia, Simon Fraser University, Investment Dealers Association of BC, and the Minerva Foundation for BC Women (of which she was a founding member).

Nancy retired from her successful career in the financial services industry in 2004. She was a pioneer within her firm and in the industry; she advocated for culture change and became a role model for other women entering the field.

Nancy is a much sought after speaker and mentor. She has been a spokesperson for ovarian cancer awareness and works extensively promoting the benefits of diversity and inclusion. She, in conjunction with the Beedie School of Business at SFU, initiated the SFU Nancy McKinstry Leadership in Diversity Awards, which recognizes an organization and an individual that exemplify the values of diversity in the workplace.
