The lederhosen and dancing shoes have been put away and the beer and schnitzel digested. The sixth annual Victoria Battle of the Bar Bands is now just a warm memory for the 250 or so who attended the event on April 1, 2011.
The event is organized each year by the Victoria Bar Association and the BC Branch of the Canadian Bar Association as a fundraiser for the CBA (BC) Benevolent Society. The Society was set up many years ago to provide financial assistance to lawyers and their families in times of need. The event was once again a critical and financial success, raising about $10,000.
In the seemingly never-ending search for the right venue, it looks like the Battle of the Bar Bands has finally found a home. The Edelweiss Club was large and accommodating, had good, well-priced food and libations, a terrific stage and a great dance floor that was filled to capacity for much of the evening.
