Inspiring words for an inspiring robe
Darryl Larson
This robe was of service to Darryl Larson since his call to the bar in 1977.
Before his first ever appeal hearing, Darryl did his due diligence by attending Court of Appeal cases to observe other highly respected counsel and model how he should present his case. On the day of his appeal, Darryl was nervous but well-prepared, he presented his case as best as he could and the appeal ended in success. A couple of days later, one of the three judges who had sat on Darryl’s appeal saw him at the courthouse library. He came over to congratulate him and tell him he did a great job. These words impacted Darryl greatly and he cherished the memory of the kind words throughout his long career as a lawyer.
Since it’s positive beginnings this robe has travelled far and wide. Darryl was thrilled to appear before the Supreme Court of Canada on a leave application. He then moved to Vancouver in 1987 , which meant that it also appeared before the Supreme Court of BC and the Court of Appeal. When Darryl’s career moved into the immigration practice, the robe accompanied him to both levels of the federal court.
