Finance & Audit Committee
Mandate
The Finance & Audit Committee is responsible for planning and carrying out, in accordance with professional standards, an audit of the CBABC's annual financial statements, overseees the fiscal year-end financial reporting process at the CBABC and results of the external audit.
The Finance & Audit Committee may make recommendations to the Exectuive Committee regarding the appointment and, if appropriate, termination of the auditors.
The Finance and Audit Committee shall assist the Executive Committee in fulfilling its oversight responsibilities relating to financial performance and policies, auditing and reporting, budgeting and financial risk management.
In fulfilling its mandate, the Finance and Audit Committee will perform the following key tasks:
- ensure sound accounting practices and internal controls are appropriately established and followed;
- review the annual budget and make recommendations to the Executive Committee;
- review the financial policy and make recommendations to the Executive Committee;
- review the investment policy and guidelines and make recommendations to the Executive Committee;
- review the expenses guidelines and make recommendations to the Executive Committee;
- review the processes and internal control framework for identification and management of risks and make process and policy recommendations to the Executive Committee;
- review the audited financial statements and the audit report and make recommendations to the Executive Committee;
- keep apprised of current national and international accounting standards as they pertain to financial reporting, and in particular with financial reporting of not for profit associations, and ensure compliance with applicable legislation, guidelines and policies;
- determine whether the audit procedures in place are adequate to meet the overriding objective that the CBABC financial statements fairly represent the financial position of the CBABC; and
- complete other functions or tasks assigned by the Executive Committee to the Finance and Audit Committee from time to time.
