The Canadian Bar Association, BC Branch is pleased to announce Connor Bildfell as President for the 2026-27 membership term.
A respected litigator, Bildfell is committed to ensuring lawyers’ frontline experience helps inform solutions to the legal and policy issues affecting British Columbians today.
“Lawyers see the issues that our clients face, and we have firsthand insight into what the potential solutions should be,” Bildfell said. “CBABC offers a great vehicle to put that insight to work through our advocacy efforts into changing the way legal systems work and changing laws for the better.”
During his term, he plans to enhance CBABC’s advocacy efforts, from recommendations to governments, regulators and courts to speaking out on issues that profoundly affect the public.
Advocacy has been a defining feature of Bildfell’s volunteer work. He serves as pro bono counsel for the Canadian Bar Association’s intervention concerning the Legal Professions Act to uphold the independence of lawyers. At CBABC, he served as Chair of the Access to Justice Committee and the Policy and Advocacy Committee, where he helped guide member initiatives and submissions.
“Advocacy really is at the heart of what we do at CBABC. We advocate for a stronger profession and better legal and justice systems,” he said.
A partner at McCarthy Tétrault LLP in Vancouver, Bildfell practises in commercial litigation, class actions, privacy disputes and public law. He earned his J.D. from the University of British Columbia and clerked at the Supreme Court of Canada and the BC Court of Appeal.
“Connor has shown a deep commitment to helping lawyers serve the interests of British Columbians and ensure that our laws and legal systems are fair and equitable,” said CBABC CEO Kerry Simmons, KC. “We look forward to highlighting the value of lawyers’ public service during his leadership of CBABC.”
