Summary:
This Administrative Notice sets out what parties and counsel may expect in civil and family chambers proceedings or at a registrar’s hearing with respect to service of documents during the disruption of Canada Post’s mail delivery services.
Direction:
- Parties and counsel appearing in chambers or at a registrar’s hearing who have served notice or other materials by mail during the postal disruption must be prepared to address sufficiency of service.
- The presiding judge, associate judge or registrar may require evidence of service and may refuse to hear a matter if not satisfied that the opposing party has actual notice of the application or hearing.
