Abhirup Chopra
After completing his articles, Abhirup was called to the B.C. bar in 2024. This momentous occasion is one he wanted to remember and celebrate, but he couldn’t. He postponed his call ceremony five times.
This milestone was not his alone—it was essential for his mother to be there with him. His family, and mother especially, made countless sacrifices for him to pursue his education and become a lawyer. Having her in the room while he took his first official move into the profession was a non-negotiable because her support, even from far away, helped him through every step of his journey to the bar.
Living in India and committed to family responsibilities, she was unable to travel to Canada. But finally, in June 2026, Adhirup welcomed his mother into the country and was able to share this moment with her.
“I am grateful to the CBABC Robe Bank for helping make the ceremony accessible,” Abhirup said. “Borrowing court attire allowed me to take part in an important tradition of the profession and celebrate a momentous professional milestone.”
CBABC was proud to fit Abhirup with his robe for such an impactful entrance to the bar and wish him luck in this next stage of his professional journey.
Abhirup added that he is “honoured to be part of the legal profession in British Columbia and looks forward to contributing to it with integrity and a strong sense of service”.
